Output of MDF in China in 2022

Shandong, Jiangsu and Guangxi once again occupy the top three. Medium density fiberboard (MDF) is called MDF for short. According to the new standard GB/T 11718-2021, which was released on November 26th, 2021 and implemented on June 1st, 2022, MDF can be divided into four categories: ordinary type, furniture type, load-bearing type and architectural type. With the growth of China’s national economy, people’s living standards have been greatly improved, and the real estate industry, building decoration industry and furniture industry have shown a rapid development trend, which has greatly promoted the rapid development of China’s wood-based panel industry, especially the growth of medium density fiberboard. According to the data, in 2021, the output of MDF in China was 64.17 million cubic meters, up 3.06% year-on-year. In terms of output distribution, in 2022, the top three provinces in China were Shandong, Jiangsu and Guangxi, with output of 15,019,200 cubic meters, 8,691,800 cubic meters and 6.38 million cubic meters respectively. With the continuous innovation of fiberboard manufacturing technology, the processing performance of fiberboard is gradually improved, and the application fields of personalization and customization are gradually expanded. Large-format, ultra-thin, special-shaped board, antistatic board, flame retardant board, moisture-proof board, formaldehyde-free board, router-milling board and other special-purpose products are constantly emerging. Technological innovation has also formed a differentiated market segment for fiberboard products, providing opportunities for brand companies to change their growth mode through structural adjustment, technological innovation and industrial upgrading. With the continuous progress of economy and society, the improvement of people’s living standards and the enhancement of environmental awareness, consumers’ requirements for green safety performance of products are increasing day by day, especially after the COVID-19 epidemic, formaldehyde-free fiberboard products have been continuously recognized by the customized home market. In order to meet the needs of the market, brand fiberboard enterprises continue to strengthen product quality management and technological innovation, reduce the amount of formaldehyde released in products, and the demand for formaldehyde-free added products has increased substantially. At the same time, the national requirements for the safety and environmental protection of fiberboard are increasingly strict, which brings development opportunities for brand enterprises that pay attention to quality management and product structure optimization and upgrading.
